Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNO): Ahead of the budget session of J&K Legislative Assembly, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday sought support from the ruling National Conference, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party and others for three “crucial bills” introduced by her party legislators. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mehbooba has written letters to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Sajad Lone, CPI (M)’s Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, AIP’s Sheikh Khursheed and other independent MLAs, urging them to support the bills introduced by PDP legislators in the J&K Assembly. In her letter, Mehbooba Mufti has highlighted the “continued hardships” faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir since the developments of 2019. Stressing the need for collective action beyond party lines, she has called for a united effort to address the grievances of the people. The three bills proposed by PDP include: Jammu and Kashmir (Regularization & Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Public Land) Bill, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Special Provisions for Regularization of Adhoc, Daily Wagers, Need-Based and Other Temporary Workers) Act, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition of Alcohol Bill, 2025. “These bills seek to address urgent concerns affecting the daily lives of our people and uphold their aspirations,” Mufti stated. Appealing for bipartisan support, Mufti has urged the leaders to see these bills not as the initiative of one party but as essential steps toward addressing public grievances. She has assured full PDP support for any government initiative that aligns with these core issues. “I look forward to your positive response and hope that we can move forward on these core issues together. Our political paths may differ, but the challenges faced by our people are shared, and so must be our resolve to address them,” Mufti has written—(KNO)
